These tablets can be chewed or used sublingually (under the tongue). Either way, a percentage of the NMN is absorbed directly to the bloodstream and is readily available to cells throughout the body, rather than being almost totally degraded in the stomach as capsules are (r).
NAD+ products have very poor bioavailability unless a delivery method is used that can protect the ingredient from digestion. When taken in regular capsules, less than 10% of NMN or NR make it to the bloodstream intact.
To address this problem, in 2016 we pioneered Sublingual delivery of NMN, and since then have advanced the industry further with Intranasal, Transdermal, and Liposomal NMN products.

Sublingual (under the tongue) delivery can provide rapid absorption via the blood vessels under the tongue rather than via the digestive tract. (1,2,3)
The absorption of the different molecules delivered through the sublingual route can be 3 to 10 times greater than oral route and is only surpassed by direct IV injection (3).
Research on sublingual delivery of NMN is not yet published, so the increased efficiency is not yet quantified.
This research published in 2018 confirms that most oral supplements of NMN and NR are digested to NAM in the GI tract or the liver.
Unlike in cell culture where NR and NMN are readily incorporated into NAD, oral administration fails to deliver NR or NMN to tissues (R)
Interestingly, we found that neither compound was able to enter the circulation intact in substantial quantities when delivered orally (R)
SUBLINGUAL CAN BE MORE BIOAVAILABLE THAN IP INJECTION !
With intraperitoneal injection, the primary route of absorption is via the mesenteric vessels, which drain into the portal vein and pass through the liver before reaching the bloodstream.
This means, IP avoids the GI tract, but is still sent directly to the Liver, where much of it is converted to NAD+. Elevated NAD+ in the liver is good, but its far better to reach the bloodstream with intact NMN.
Sublingual delivery is not filtered by the Liver and can reach systemic circulation intact, so can actually result in greater bioavailability that direct injection! Some examples are:
NAD+ can be synthesized in humans from several different molecules (precursors), thru the De Novo and Salvage Pathways.
The salvage pathway sustains 85% or more of our NAD+ (14), with approximately 3g of NAM metabolized to NMN and then to NAD 2-4 times per day (14).
Nampt is the rate-limiting step in the salvage process.
As we age, Nampt enzyme activity is lower, resulting in less NAM recycling, less NAD+, more disease and aging
Restoring NAD+ in the Liver does not solve NAD+ deficiency throughout the body.
In the Liver, the CD38 enzyme metabolizes NAD+ to NAM, which is excreted to the rest of the body (6).
Sublingual delivery of NMN or NAD+ directly to the bloodstream partially bypasses the liver and the Nampt bottleneck.

DRIVING THE PRICE DOWNIn 2015 when we began producing our own brand of NMN capsules, there were few manufacturers of raw material and the price was exorbitant.
We believed in the future of NMN, so made the leap and began selling at a break-even prices that were about 1/2 what others were charging, to help spur the markets.
Others were forced to follow our lead and lowered their price almost as low as ours.
We have continued with this model for 5 years now – constantly increasing the size of our orders, and seeing the manufacturing costs drop as more manufacturers see the growing market and learn how to produce the quality product we require.
We’re thrilled to be able to set our retail prices around 1/3 of what they were when we started, and continuously dropping. As always, other companies are forced to lower their prices to match ours, but can’t quite do so as we our the largest buyer and get the best pricing from manufacturers.
SETTING NEW STANDARDS FOR QUALITYWhen we started selling NMN on Amazon in 2016, no-one was testing the purity of their product and displaying the proof. Since it is an expensive product and there is no regulatory agency to insure quality, we decided to do so ourselves, and were the first to always post 3rd party test results.
Not only do we test the raw material, but we post test reports for each batch of finished product, as it is simple for a company to just sent a sample off for testing, post that report, but not use any NMN in the bottle
A few have followed our lead now, but many others sell absolute garbage. It is quite easy for a brand new company to pop up and slap a label on some worthless powder, buy some fake reviews on Amazon, and sell bottles to unwitting customers. We had several tested and exposed some of the scammers, but with all the money they can make ripping people off, we couldn't battle all the new brands popping up every week, so left Amazon entirely in 2019.
Dr. Brad Stanfield has taken up the battle a bit and recently tested 21 different brands. Most had less than the advertised quantity of NMN per capsule, with several having NONE. You can see his review here. Unfortunately, that too will have very little effect.
